Below you'll find detailed answers to your most commonly asked questions about our women's health services.
What health issues should I be concerned about during different stages in my life?
Healthy women need preventive and primary care, advice about diet and fitness and, of course, guidance and diagnostics when problems arise. Loyola physicians offer comprehensive well-woman guidelines and services for every stage of life.
Will I get “Loyola-level” care at Loyola's Gottlieb campus?
Yes, the level of care and expertise that you expect from a Loyola experience will be the same at our Gottlieb campus. At the same time, we will strive to provide an experience that honors you and your family's needs and expectations for privacy.
Will my doctor be there?
The Loyola doctor you are seeing now will be part of the team of professionals at our Gottlieb campus. Also at the Gottlieb campus are a collaborative team of OB/Gyne nurses from both Loyola and Gottlieb who are trained to manage the special needs of female patients - whether you are recovering from a gynecologic surgery or from the delivery of a new baby. Every OB/Gyne specialist on staff at Loyola has privileges to care for patients at Loyola's Gottlieb campus. And, should you need care from our maternal-fetal medicine or neonatal specialists, Loyola is only three miles away.
What benefits does the Loyola Gottlieb campus offer?
The Loyola Gottlieb campus offers:
Why is Gottlieb a good option for me?
If you are a general obstetrics patient or require a general gynecologic procedure, the Loyola services at Gottlieb are a wonderful option. Beyond the convenience of being at a smaller facility that is easy to navigate, your gynecologic procedure or delivery will be performed with the same level of expertise that you had planned at the Maywood campus. You will be cared for by a Loyola physician and by a collaborative nursing team that is knowledgeable about the needs of women.
Loyola has advanced technology and the high-risk “safety net” that I wanted. Is that offered at the Gottlieb campus?
Be assured that Loyola's Gottlieb team is prepared to handle any unexpected occurrence that may arise. Most of the technologies that we have available at the Maywood campus now also are available at our Gottlieb campus. Better yet, we have access to all of the Loyola professionals who can help to ensure a good outcome. This includes maternal-fetal medicine specialists and an in-house OB/Gyne who is on site 24/7. If your new baby needs a Level III nursery, Loyola's world-renowned neonatal intensive care unit is only three miles away.
But what about the risks?
If it is determined that your delivery or gynecologic surgery poses special risks, you and your physician will decide whether it’s best to transfer you to Loyola hospital, in which case you’ll have your delivery or gynecologic surgery at Loyola University Hospital in Maywood. If you are “borderline” high-risk and it appears that you can be safely managed collaboratively by the Loyola team at Gottlieb, you may still have your delivery or procedure at Gottlieb. However, should you require intensive care, you will be brought by ambulance to Loyola's Maywood campus. If you have worries about a specific scenario, talk to your Loyola obstetrician or gynecologist now so that he or she can answer all of your questions.
Where exactly is Loyola's Gottlieb campus?
If you can find Kiddieland at First and North avenues, you can find Loyola’s Gottlieb campus. It’s on North Avenue, just three miles northwest of the Maywood campus and about 15 minutes from our North Riverside facility on Harlem Avenue.
