Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery - Pediatric

Being able to smile is critical to any child’s sense of well-being. While the conditions of cleft lip and palate are rare, these disfigurements can have long-term physical and psychological affects on a child. In the Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery program at the Ronald McDonald® Children’s Hospital of Loyola University Medical Center, we believe in a child’s right to smile.

Our accomplished Cleft Palate/Craniofacial team consists of specialists in the areas of plastic surgery, orthodontics, otolaryngology, speech pathology, neurosurgery, social work and family counseling. Working together with your child’s best interests in mind, this team is successfully providing treatment for:

  • Cleft lip and cleft palate
  • Craniofacial anomalies
  • Head, ear and neck disfigurements
  • Moles and birthmarks
  • Removal of tumors, cysts and birthmarks
  • Reconstruction of congenital deformities

We also conduct ongoing research into cleft lip and cleft palate, including the social and psychological impact on a child.
